Louis Kahn and IM Pei insired me with the strength of their buildings
and beautiful detailing. Country projects have been influenced by work of
Edward Lutyens and his garden designer Gertrude Jekyll, by east coast architecture,
the Shingle Style, Arts And Crafts movement, and most recently by Robert
Stern. Contemporary architecture within Canada, is among the best in the
world,and should be more celebrated in this country. A favourite Canadian
building is Arthur Erickson's Museum of Anthropology on the UBC campus in
Vancouver.
